Magnolia Springs VFD purchases new Tanker/Pumper truck

Posted

The Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department recently purchased a new Tanker/Pumper truck. This apparatus combines the unique characteristics of a tanker carrying 3,000 gallons of water and a pumper that delivers the water so firefighters can do their job putting out fires even when water is not readily available. This new addition will help the department improve the ISO rating which contributes to lower insurance rates for property owners.

“We are grateful to the town of Magnolia Springs for their $10,000 donation which will be combined with a matching FEMA grant towards the purchase of this versatile piece of equipment,” said Kaylan Driskell, Fire Chief. “It’s one truck doing the job of two – and that’s efficient.”

This all-volunteer department consisting of 33 dedicated firefighters also received FEMA matching grant money to purchase new radios that make communication with other departments in the county possible.

To learn more about the department and the advances they are making, you’re invited to attend the Annual Public Meeting on June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department on Gates Avenue.
