ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Robertsdale man turned himself in to police Sunday after authorities say he rammed head-on into a Sheriff’s Deputy during a high-speed pursuit in Summerdale early Sunday morning.

Dennis Brandon Coburn, 21, of Brewton Road in Robertsdale is awaiting a bond hearing on charges of felony second degree assault, along with a misdemeanor charge of attempting to allude.

Capt. Steven Arthur, BCSO chief investigator, said a Sheriff’s deputy was conducting a routine traffic stop at the intersection of County Road 87 and County Road 32 in Summerdale at around 1 a.m. Sunday morning when the suspect fled the scene heading southbound on County Road 87 toward Elberta.

“During the pursuit, the subject turned around and rammed his vehicle head-on into the deputy,” Arthur said. The suspect then fled the scene.

Coburn was arrested when he turned himself in to the Robertsdale Police Department later that day, Arthur said. He was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections facility shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday. The law requires that a bond hearing be held within 24 hours of booking, which should be sometime Monday.
