SUMMERDALE - The Town of Summerdale will not hold a 2020 election. Each council seat and the position of mayor were unopposed. One person ran for each seat, and all six have been approved by the current council and will serve beginning next term. The new term will begin the first Monday of November, 2020.

At that time, the positions of mayor and council will be filled by David Wilson, Mayor; Myles Bishop, Place 1; Norma Wilson Giles, Place 2; Mary Carolyn McDaniel, Place 3; Travis Townsend, Place 4; and Cheryl Wallace Stewart, Place 5.

All are currently serving on the town council in their respective positions.

“I’m thankful that the people of the Town of Summerdale are happy with the way that we, mayor and council, work for the people of this town,” said Wilson. “I can say with all my heart and with an assurance that everybody [on the council] has no selfish motives or gains; this is for the Town of Summerdale, and I believe that the citizens know that … I believe they prove that by saying that we’re doing a job that they’re happy with and letting us take it on for another four years.”
