Orange Beach charter boat damaged by fire

On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Orange Beach Fire Department was dispatched to a vessel on fire several miles southeast of Perdido Pass. Plums of black smoke could be seen from the beaches.

Private boats responded to the distress call and arrived before emergency responders. All eight passengers were safely removed, and no injuries were reported.

Fire Boat 2 arrived at 2:15 p.m. to find Hoss Fly III, a 38-foot fishing charter boat, on fire. Crews quickly extinguished the flame, but the boat suffered significant damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Orange Beach Fire Department was assisted by Orange Beach Police, US Coast Guard, Alabama Marine Police, and numerous private vessels.
