On behalf of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the City of Gulf Shores will host a Public Workshop Meeting Thursday, Feb. 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center for the NOAA Marsh Restoration Project in Oyster Bay.
Due to concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will also be streamed on Facebook for VIEWING ONLY by the City of Gulf Shores. The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to participate in the development of the proposed project.
A brief presentation will be given at 4:30 p.m. After the presentation, representatives from NOAA will be available online to discuss the proposed project and answer any questions. Comment sheets will be made available at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center and online for those who would like to submit written statements.
The purpose of the project is to improve surface water flow under Waterway West Boulevard by installing a new larger box culvert under the road between County Road 6 and Gulf Shores Parkway. The need for the project is due to flooding/water impoundment issues that impact the adjacent marsh ecosystems. Funding for this project has been provided through the RESTORE Act.
