Phil Savage to keynote at Tiger for Life

• Fourth annual membership kick-off dinner set May 1 at Holly Hills

Posted

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Tiger for Life Alumni Association will hold its fourth annual membership kick-off dinner at 6 p.m. May 1 at Holly Hills Municipal Golf Course in Bay Minette. Phil Savage Jr., Executive Director for Reese’s Senior Bowl, will be the keynote speaker.

Tickets are $25 per couple or $15 for an individual.

In just three short years, Tiger for Life has contributed more than $25,000 to programs and sports at Baldwin County High School. These funds are raised through memberships and, to date, has benefited nearly 20 different teams and organizations.

TFL offers four levels of membership: Bronze, $100; Silver, $300; Gold, $500; and Black Diamond, $1000. Each level enables the member to designate donations to a sport or organization of their choice. Membership may also include TFL Fan Packages and passes to BCHS sporting events.

Named Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl in June of 2012, Savage spent 20 years in the National Football League as a coach, scout, personnel director and general manager.

Savage said his “football life” began as a 6-year old quarterback for the Mims Park Redskins, continued at Murphy High School and progressed to the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where he played football and baseball. Following his graduation in 1987 with a degree in English, his career has included jobs in virtually every aspect of the game. From coaching offense and defense to scouting over 7,000 potential NFL draft picks and now to his latest ventures in the media, he has an all-encompassing perspective of both college and professional football.

Savage recently released his book 4th and Goal Every Day, which is his 360-degree view of the Crimson Tide program.

Savage has also enjoyed a career in sports media, serving as a Radio Color Analyst for the Crimson Tide Sports Network; SiriusXM Radio with College Sports Nation and NFL Analyst; and on ESPN for “NFL Insiders” and “SportsCenter”.

“I have been fortunate to have worked with some of the best and brightest people in football. To have been exposed to coach Homer Smith for offense, Bill Belichick and Nick Saban for defense, Ozzie Newsome for player personnel and Eli Gold for broadcasting, I have been influenced by these men at the very top of their respective professions.”
