Prodisee Pantry’s food distribution moving back inside

SPANISH FORT — Prodisee Pantry will move its food distribution operation back inside from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7 at 9315 Spanish Fort Blvd. in Spanish Fort.

Prodisee Pantry has assisted 8,552 families with over 555 tons of groceries in just 15 weeks of Mass Emergency Food Distributions in its parking lot, said Executive Director Deann Servos.

Prodisee Pantry will re-open its facility on Tuesday, July 7 and clients will not longer go to Spanish Fort High School.

“The summer heat is making the move back inside our facility necessary,” Servos said. “For the safety of our volunteers and the client families we serve; our procedures, processes and flow have changed. We ask for patience as we work through our new normal with COVID-19 safety procedures.”

Everyone who enters the building at Prodisee Pantry will be required to wash their hands and wear a mask. Families will remain in their vehicles until they are signaled to come inside. The parking lot will not open until 8:30 a.m. for client families.

“We ask that families seeking food do not arrive early,” Servos said. “We have clearly marked our waiting area outside to help everyone maintain social distancing. We are unable to have hundreds of families and volunteers inside our facility at the same time.”

Entry will be limited to one person per family. Food will be brought out to cars as in the past, but families are asked to empty their trunks before arriving.

“For our volunteers and client families, our processes and procedure have changed, but our mission is still the same,” Servos said. “Prodisee Pantry continues to bring hope by feeding the physical, emotional and spiritual hunger of Baldwin County families in need. We are here for every Baldwin County family who is struggling to put food on their table.

“We ask that each family bring proof that they live in BALDWIN COUNTY, a picture id and their patience as we provide fresh produce, staple food items and hope during this difficult time.”

Servos gave a special thank to all the volunteers who “keep us running.”

“COVID-19 has been challenging. Smaller volunteer teams doing more work. In just 15 weeks, this dedicated crew has packed and distributed 555 tons of food. That is more groceries than all of last year plus 100 additional tons.”
