Ribbon Cutting for New Community Outreach Non-Profit

Posted

FOLEY - The South Baldwin Chamber celebrated a new Foley outreach non-profit. My Community Mentor is designed to give back to the community and assist people as needed. They offer a variety of programs for both youth and adults including youth sports and a leadership academy. My Community Mentor also offers budget planning, GED classes, after school tutoring, conflict resolution, ACT & SAT test prep, parenting and computer classes.

Louis Pope, President, created My Community Mentor to provide a bridge between people in the community who want to give back and those requiring assistance. Recently mentors held the first annual Back to Basics Back to School Day, equipping 400 children with school supplies and new book bags. Currently MCM is collecting relief items for victims of the Florida Hurricane Irma as well as recruiting volunteers for an initiative called Real Talk with Real Men, after school tutors, The Youth Leadership Academy and Diamonds Mentoring.

The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome My Community Mentor to Foley and look forward to guiding them as they connect with our business community and its leadership to accomplish their goals. My Community Mentors would like to thank LA Pasadita in Elberta and Ed’s Tobacco Shop for providing food and drink for the Ribbon Cutting celebration as well as the Ramos family for making My Community Mentor a reality.
