Robertsdale man films his suicide on Facebook Live

Posted

Late Tuesday evening, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on Ponderosa Farm Road West in Robertsdale to investigate a report of welfare concern that had ended with a man committing suicide while filming it on Facebook live.

Deputies responded to the site after the man’s girlfriend contacted them from Mississippi, who said she was concerned about her boyfriend’s welfare because the two were going through a break-up and he had stopped responding to her attempts to contact him.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s officials said a preliminary investigation revealed the man took his own life by shooting himself in the head with a rifle.

The video of the suicide was seized as evidence.

Deputy Coroner Brian Pierce responded to the scene and the man’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further investigation.

Gulf Coast Media will update this story with further developments as they occur.
