ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale Rotary Club brought home a first-place award for Best $500 Rodeo of 2019 at the Professional Cowboy Association Awards Banquet held Jan. 11 at the Margaritaville Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi.

According to its website, pcarodeo.com, the Professional Cowboy Association is the premier and predominant producer of action-packed, exciting, thrilling rodeos in the Southeast, drawing more than 5,000 people to a Friday or Saturday night rodeo at each event.

Created more than 17 years ago, the Professional Cowboy Association, based in Robertsdale, has grown each year, and now sanctions more than 100 rodeos in their 10-month season. In eight states throughout the Southeast, on any given weekend, you can see more than 10 rodeos. And the PCA is pleased to call more than 1,000 cowboys and cowgirls its members.

The Professional Cowboy Association provides rodeo’s premier showcase each year with its Professional Cowboy Finals Rodeo competition in January. Offering an alluring stage along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, cowboys and cowgirls display their talents and earn their share of the $150,000 offered by the PCA.

Awards are handed out each year and are based on contributions to the organization.

The Robertsdale Rotary Club was named the first prize winner for 2019 in the $500 category.

“This is a big honor for us to be recognized by the Professional Cowboy Association,” said 2019-2020 Club President Cheryl Russell. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year raising thousands for local charities.”
