FOLEY - We call it AL59. The South Baldwin Chamber’s very own craft beer, that is. Everything about this beer says community involvement, inside and out. It’s an Alabama brewed ale with a label featuring local landmarks and surrounding areas.

The Back Forty Beer Company out of Gadsden, Alabama, was introduced to us by Sarah Kuzma with Meyer Vacation Rentals. After getting to know the Back Forty crew, we knew right away we wanted to do something big, something special with the company. Understanding the importance of the Chamber and its mission, Back Forty made a special trade deal. The production of AL59 was set in motion.

AL59, an Alabama Honey Ale, got its name from the well know highway that runs through the heart of Baldwin county, leading to the beautiful beaches of our gulf coast. The artwork for the label, sketched by South Baldwin Chamber staff member, Kylee Raulerson, represents all of south Baldwin, from the beaches to the farmlands, and includes local landmarks such as the Foley Pedestrian Bridge and the Rollin’ Thunder of OWA.

Bringing Raulerson’s artwork to life was Tara McMeans with Design Print Promote. McMeans, having strong roots with the Gulf Shores community, was thrilled to have the opportunity to add a craft beer can label to her portfolio. She’s owned her business since 2006 and her artwork can be found throughout the county, including her very own oyster shell on the trail for the Oyster Shell Recycling Program.

Only available at chamber events, like The Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival, BBQ & Blues Cook-Off and Chicago Street Supper Club, the AL59 craft beer made its debut at this year’s Festival of Flavor. We hope to feature AL59 at chamber events for many years to come.
