BAY MINETTE – Baldwin County High School had five athletes sign scholarships to play football at the next level. The signing ceremony was held at BCHS in front of an audience of fellow student-athletes and family members.
Tyler Jernigan (OL) signed with the University of South Alabama; Eli Powell (QB) will play for Faulkner University; DJ Lamkin (DB) at Millsaps College; and Cade Stamps (LB) and Chase Overstreet (TE) with the University of the Cumberlands.
Both Overstreet and Stamps will also play baseball at Cumberlands.
Three of these teammates will soon meet again on the field of play, but this time as adversaries when Faulkner University travels to Kentucky to face Cumberlands on Sept. 8.
Coach Nathan McDaniel joined BCHS when these players were freshmen and said they have helped build the program. "We are so proud of this signing class. These guys have been with me all four years and they have accomplished so much over that period of time," McDaniel said. "We are looking forward to watching them develop as young men and as student-athletes at the next level."
