SILVERHILL, Alabama — A Silverhill man has been arrested and charged in the April robbery of United Bank in Loxley.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, June 13, based on evidence collected in a two-month investigation, the Loxley Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, conducted a search warrant at the home of 69-year-old David Gregory Long at his home on North Boulevard in Silverhill.

Long was arrested at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, later booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility on charges of first-degree robbery. He is currently being held without bond.

“He was very cooperative,” said Lt. Raymond “Tony” Lovell, chief investigator with the Loxley Police Department. “He is our subject; this case is closed, and we can move on to other charges.”

According to officials, at approximately 12:45 p.m. April 17, an individual brandished a gun at two male employees at United Bank in Loxley, demanding money.

He was able to walk out of the bank carrying an undisclosed amount of cash, got into a vehicle, turned left onto Alabama 59 and drove away.

Additional charges may be pending in the case.
