Summerdale helping USA become ‘All Steinway School’

Posted

On July 31, from 3 to 5 p.m., the community is invited to the Summerdale Municipal Complex at 502 W. Lee St, to attend a summer piano request concert, the University of South Alabama Steinway Initiative Concert.

Performers, Steinway artist Dr. Robert Holm and Victor Andzulis — whom you will recognize from the Summerdale Christmas Concert, will play your requests on a beautiful Steinway grand piano. Holm is a professor of music and head of the piano division at the University of South Alabama.

The university’s performance hall has great pianos, but the practice rooms and faculty studios do not. The school is asking for your help to change this to make USA a more competitive institution musically with all Steinway pianos. USA’s initiative to become an “All Steinway School” began in January.

Submit your requests to Norma Giles at 251-978-3245 or norma@normagilescpa.com. The performers will be able to play any song provided they have time to learn it, so submit your requests as soon as possible for this free concert. All types of music can be requested.

All though this is a free concert, donations will be accepted to help USA reach its goal to become an “All Steinway School.”
