LOXLEY, Alabama — Two teens, one 18 and one 16, are being charged with felony murder in the death of another teen after Loxley police say the three were among those who assaulted another resident late Friday night.

Lt. Doug Phillips, investigator with the Loxley Police Department said at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Friday, the department received a call that a group of suspects broke in and assaulted a person at a residence in west Loxley. The exact location and identity of the resident have been withheld for fear of further violence against the resident, Phillips said.

“The incident appears to be narcotics related,” Philips said. “We believe it was either over money or drugs, but the exact reason is still under investigation.”

As the suspects were fleeing the scene, Phillips said, shots were fired and one of the suspects, identified at this time only as a juvenile male, was struck and died at the scene.

Two other suspects fled in a vehicle and were arrested a short distance from the scene, Phillips said.

One suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jarvis Tobias Parker of Foley, was booked into the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Facility at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, charged with felony murder.

Additional charges were brought against Parker following a bond hearing on Monday. According to the Corrections Facility website Parker is being charged with murder, capital robbery, assault, second degree, each of which carries a $500,000 bond; and burglary, first degree, which carries a $100,000 bond. He is being held on three counts of violations of release orders and is currently in jail without bond.

Phillips said the other suspect is also being charged as an adult with felony murder, but her name is not being released at this time because of youthful offender status laws.

“There is a massive amount of evidence in this case that is still under investigation,” Phillips said. “Other charges may be pending.”

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation, Phillips said.
