After months of work the Bodenhamer Recreation Center pool renovations are complete. Staff welcomed members back on Aug. 3.
During the April 27 City Council meeting, Mayor Robert Craft and the City Council approved the work to begin early to take advantage of the forced closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project included the complete demolition of the existing pool deck and rebuilding a new concrete deck, new plumbing the pool to resolve existing drainage issues, tiling the new pool deck and locker rooms with aquatic nonslip tile and painting all locker rooms and fixing existing drainage issues.
The pool is open but certain restrictions are in place to abide by the current Safer at Home health order issued by Governor Kay Ivey in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Pool Guidelines and Restrictions:
What to bring:
- Towel, water bottle, goggles, lap swim equipment.
- Pool noodles and other porous equipment will not be provided.
- Small portable bag with limited personal belongings/no valuables, Locker rooms are closed. The center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Water Aerobics Classes will be limited in size to ensure social distancing:
Pool Schedule through Aug. 11:
Monday-Friday
6 a.m.-7 a.m.: Lap/Exercise Swim
7 a.m.-11 a.m.: Classes/Programs Only
11 a.m.-7 p.m.: Lap/Exercise Swim
Saturday
8 a.m.-5 p.m.: Lap/Exercise Swim
Sunday
1 p.m.-6 p.m.: Lap/Exercise Swim
