Three Foley Lions named to Baldwin Girls Basketball All-County team

FOLEY, Ala. — Sophomore forward Taye Johnson is easily the most improved player on the Lady Lions roster, according to head coach Sally Jeter. Johnson led the team in rebounding (10 per game) and was the best post defender on the team. Johnson showed her commitment to the team when she stepped her game up after Ayanna Carvin tore her ACL and CC Buchanan graduated in December.

“Johnson is highly competitive and is a winner!” Jeter said. “She is not afraid to compete against anyone and her role will continue to expand on this young team. Her willingness to do the ‘dirty work’ of rebounding and defending earned her a place on this year’s All-County team.”

Freshman MG Lymon lived up to the hype that came with her following a stellar middle school career. Lymon stepped into the toughest role on the court, point guard, and guided the Lady Lions to the most wins (11) the team has had in over 10 years. She led the team in assists (3 apg) and was second in scoring (10 ppg) in her Freshman campaign.

“MG is the first player in the gym and the last to leave each and every day,” Jeter said. “Her work ethic is second to none and earned her a place on this year’s All-County team.”

Guard Kaitlyn Knight put up monster numbers her sophomore season with the Lady Lions. Knight led the team in scoring (14 ppg), steals (4 spg), and finished second in rebounding (6 rpg). For her career, she has already totaled 624 points and is well on her way to joining Foley’s elite 1,000 point-scoring club.

“She is a player that practices and competes with all-out effort and intensity.” Jeter said. “Knight can be counted on to defend the opponent’s best player as well as create for her team on the offensive end. She earned her spot on the All-County team by outworking her opponents on both ends of the court.”
