Vacationer drowns in Gulf Shores

At approximately 2:45 p.m. Friday June 30, 2017, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call of a possible drowning at 805 Plantation Road off Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores. Witnesses stated that they observed a man floating in the water that appeared to be in some distress. As the witness approached the victim and attempted to communicate with him the victim was unresponsive. The witness along with a friend of the victim pulled him to shore and began CPR.

The Fort Morgan Fire Department, Med Star Ambulance and Life Flight were summoned to assist. All efforts to resuscitate the victim failed and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim was 49 years old and was vacationing from the Montgomery area.
