On Oct. 23, at approximately 1 p.m., Foley Police Department responded to several phone calls in reference to a woman driving erratically on Highway 59. She was reportedly heading northbound from County Road 10, in a black Chevrolet Silverado.

According to police reports, at Highway 59 northbound at County Road 12, the woman rear ended a car and left the scene of the accident; she continued eastbound on County Road 12 where she then drove to the Foley Beach Express and headed north.

At County Road 20 and the Foley Beach Express, the woman sideswiped an 18-wheeler. She also left the scene of this accident and headed east on County Road 20 near Clark Ridge Road; she hit a Chevrolet Astro Van and left the scene.

The woman continued east on County Road 20 where she hit a Chevrolet car near Wilson Road. At this point, she lost control of the vehicle, swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a Hyundai Santa Fe head on. The Hyundai was occupied by three people. One person was transported via ambulance; the other two were airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital. The driver of the Silverado was transported via ambulance as well.

The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the motor vehicle accident involving the Hyundai Santa Fe. The Foley Police Department is investigating the other motor vehicle crashes prior to the head-on collision. The woman driving the Chevrolet Silverado appeared to possibly be in an altered mental state, police said.

This case is still under investigation.
