LIVINGSTON — In nationwide voting, Hero Sports selected Baldwin County native Colin Douglas as the top-vote recipient for D-2 Football Defense/Special Teams for of the week honors in week one.

In the first start of his college career the University of West Alabama kicker got his Tigers on the scoreboard first with a 32-yard field goal in a season-opening 46-7 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. It was the first of four field goals by Douglas who added scores from 20, 30 and 33 yards. The sophomore was also perfect on extra points hitting all four of his point-after kicks.

The former Bayside Academy kicking specialist played for Coach Phil Lazenby at at Bayside in Daphne where he hit 44-of-44 PATs and was 7-of-9 on field goals as a senior. His longest long field goal was 46 yards and he averaged 47.2 yards per punt with the longest of 61 yards. He was a first team 3A All-State and first team all-region played. Played in the North-South All-Star Game.
