DAPHNE, Ala. -- Daphne football evened out their record at 2-2 with a convincing 40-6 home victory against overmatched and winless regional foe B.C. Rain (0-4) Friday night.

The Trojans run game churned out 318 yards and four touchdowns on the ground en route to the much-needed win. Quarterback Trent Battle led the rushing attack with 107 yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone.

Daphne running backs Jay Pogue and Joe Hall also added rushing scores from 9 and 22 yards out, respectively.

The Red Raiders' offense, on the other hand, was anemic in the ground game. Daphne held them to just 108 yards on the ground, unless you take into account the sack yardage piled up by the Trojan defense.

B.C. Rain was on the wrong end of seven sacks, which resulted in a total of 56 yards lost.

Daphne's defense had a big night, along with racking up sacks, they notched an additional five tackles for a loss, forced two fumbles and blocked a punt attempt.

Kicker Diego Guajardo for the Trojans had a big night as he connected on field goal attempts from 53, 23, 24 and 38 yards to go along with four converted extra-point attempts.

The lone highlight for Rain came in the fourth quarter when senior running back Desean Golston found room for a 3-yard rushing touchdown to keep the game from being a shutout. The extra-point attempt was no good leaving the score at 37-6. Guajardo's last field goal left the final score at 40-6.

B.C. Rain will face another tough test when they host Spanish Fort (3-1) this Friday. Daphne has a bye week before traveling to neighboring rival, Class 7A Fairhope (2-2).
