ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Former Robertsdale Golden Bear David Lynch will be taking his skills to the next level, signing to play basketball for Ecclesia College in Springdale, Arkansas, for the 2019-20 season.

Lynch, a 6-foot-4-inch forward, averaged 3.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks per game in 54 games over three seasons for the Golden Bears.

“One of the most impressive statistics to me, is that he managed to draw 65 charges (a 1.2 per game average) for us in his three years here,” said Golden Bear Head Coach Marshall Davis. “That takes a lot of discipline and we’re going to have to find a way to replace that next season.”

Located about 10 miles south of Fayetteville (the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks), Ecclesia competes at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I level, which features teams that are also dual affiliated with NCAA Division II and NAIA.

After winning just five games in 2018-19, the Royals welcomed first-year head coach Tanner Huck for the 2019-20 season. During Wednesday’s ceremony, Davis read a statement from Huck.

“We are excited to bring in David because of his character, size and the potential he brings to the program as we rebuild,” Huck said.

Lynch said he plans to study sports management at Ecclesia College and said he was “excited about the opportunity” to take his skills to the next level.

“I just want to thank my mom and family for their support,” Lynch said, “and to Coach Davis for pushing me to improve as a player and as a person.”

Lynch was joined by his family, including mom Stephanie Williams, grandmother Sara Weaver, great-grandmother Lana Wilson and “adopted parents” Mike and Tammie Kelso, along with other family and former teammates.

Davis said he also wanted to thank Mike Ebert of Starfish 23 recruiting for his help.
