BAY MINETTE, Alabama — On Wednesday, May 22, the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce held a Spring Reception to recognize scholarship recipients, the Diplomats and both outgoing and incoming Junior Ambassadors.

All 18 of the 2018-2019 Diplomats were recognized and gifted with a small token of appreciation for their time and commitment to the chamber.

Those in attendance of the program included Lori McCormick, Tommy Langham, Mary Kelly, Josh Brown and Kristina Angelone. Not in attendance were Barbara Brown, Brady Hall, Clair Dorough, Colleen Donald, Hunter Hale, Kasey Henderson, Keith Castleberry, Keniesha Fields, Kristyanne Kiner-Galish, Mark Daniel, Robin Olson, Stacey Gregson and Wanda Ezekial.

Next, Lisa Yokely and Sara Godwin Davis with the Young Professionals of the North Baldwin Chamber awarded scholarships to local students.

Over the course of seven years, because of Delta Dash, the Young Professionals have raised over $144,000 that has been put back into the North Baldwin Community.

Over $43,000 of that will have been awarded in scholarships to Baldwin County High School Seniors, students at Coastal Alabama Community College and Huntingdon College in Bay Minette.

Recipients are chosen based on a combination of academic excellence paired with a proven dedication and commitment to serve their community.

This year’s recipients include, Callie Roley with $1,500, Nick Hadley and Holly Bates with $1,000, Courtney Lewis, Sheree Padgett, Emma Franklin, all with $750 and Isabella Eleogo and Mason Fahy with $500. The Young Professionals are honored and proud to continue to award scholarships and support educational endeavors in our community.

Ashley Jones-Davis concluded the program by recognizing the 2018-2019 class of Junior Ambassadors that have graduated and welcoming the 2019-2020 class.

The Junior Ambassadors serve as chamber ambassadors inside the school and within the community. These students are exposed to business in North Baldwin, community service and working in the non-profit world.

The goal is to offer additional learning opportunities for students outside of the classroom, exposing them to real life examples, and to further prepare them for life after graduating. Over five years, 34 students have completed the program.

Holly Bates, Nicholas Hadley, Emma Franklin, Courtney Lewis and Isabella Eleogo are graduates of this year’s class, as they’ve completed one to two years of service in the program.

These students were awarded scholarships based on the points completed in the program. Graduating seniors attending Universities outside of the North Baldwin area were awarded cash scholarships to help cover any school related expenses.

Eleongo was awarded $750, and Franklin and Lewis were awarded $1,000 each. Both Holly Bates and Nick Hadley, in partnership with Coastal Alabama Community College, were awarded with presidential scholarships to attend the community college. On top of that, Bates received a $250 cash scholarship and Hadley received a $500 cash scholarship.

Joining those five students, Olivia Lamb, Landon Jones, Mary-Stuart Lewis and Tanner Smith completed one year of service and will return for a second year as part of the upcoming class.

With the largest Ambassador class yet, the chamber also welcomes along with the four returning, Kristen Phillips, LoriAnn McCullough, Jayla Bennet, Eve Powell, Allison Wilson, Hamp Weatherford, Kenny Weatherford, Tyler Siggers, Lindsey Stewart and Brady Seals.

Thank you to all that came out for this year’s Spring Reception recognizing the Diplomats, Ambassadors and other Scholarship recipients. Thank you to Huntingdon College of Bay Minette for the generous donation of refreshments for everyone to enjoy. As always, thank you to all of the Chamber members and community for investing and supporting these efforts and programs.
