From world-class trumpet, to award-winning bluegrass, to the one-and-only Elvis, upcoming concerts at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church will bring super music events for every lover of great music.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in the GSUMC sanctuary, Dr. Michael Brown, former head of Mississippi State University music department, will bring together a wonderful assortment of talent for an evening of baroque and classical music.  He will be joined by Sarah Schrader, violinist and soprano, Benjamin Rollings, concert pianist and organist, and Cody Johnson, baritone and Director of Worship Arts at GSUMC.  Together, they will perform works by Purcell, Bach, Handel, Vierne, Vivaldi and others.

Monroe Crossing will return for two shows on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. on the GSUMC sanctuary after sold-out performances in their inaugural concert last year.   This award-winning band from the twin cities in Minnesota, has won numerous bluegrass music honors.  They have performed around the world from Carnegie Hall in New York City to stages in South Korea, playing traditional bluegrass, country, folk as well as original music.

Both concerts are part of the GSUMC Concert Series, with individual tickets at $10 per person for the Dr. Brown concert and $15 per person for Monroe Crossing available from 9 a.m. to noon Monday – Friday at Thee Coffee Shop in the church’s South Plaza Campus.  Concert season subscriptions are also available.

Elvis Remembered on Monday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the GSUMC auditorium, features Shane Tucker, popular local Elvis tribute artist along with the Promised Land Band.  After playing to standing room only shows at Pensacola’s Bands on the Beach and the National Shrimp Festival, this rocking group performs with a full band, background singers, lights and video.   Separate tickets for this event are available at $15 per person from the GSUMC South Plaza ticket office.

For further details on these events and others in the GSUMC concert season, please feel free to contact the church office at 251-968-2411 or visit the website at www.gulfshoresumc.org.
