SUMMERDALE, Alabama — Youth-Reach Gulf Coast, a Christ-centered residential home for young men ages 18-22, is hosting an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at 25062 County Road 38 in Summerdale.

The event features free food, family-friendly games, entertainment and a giveaway drawing for a free Golden’s Cast Iron Cooker ($1,395 value). Plans for expanded staff housing to help serve the rapidly growing number of residents will also be unveiled.

“We have a very good problem, but it is still a problem,” said Curt Williams, founder and executive director of Youth-Reach. “We are above capacity as never before in our history have we had so many residents and there are more waiting on the life-transforming opportunity that is provided here.”

Set in the structure of a balanced family and home life, all YRGC staff live on campus. They do not have “normal office hours” or clock in or out. Staff members are experienced and trained counselors.

“Expanded housing will allow us to help meet the increasing demand for young men who need to break free from harmful actions such as drug addiction, promiscuity, rage and violence and learn practical skills for daily living,” said David Williams, director of YRGC. “The healing that occurs at YRGC reaches far beyond the lives of the residents. It impacts their families and our community.”

At YRGC, a fee is never charged for the 24/7 services provided to the young men served. Residents and their families are not burdened by the high costs associated with offering a full-service residential program. All financial needs are met by the support of individuals, civic groups, foundations and churches in our local community.
