ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- The Baldwin County School System hosted training for about 175 bus drivers throughout Baldwin County on Tuesday, March 29 at the Baldwin County Coliseum and Fairgrounds in Robertsdale.

“This is a valuable asset for our school system,” said Baldwin County Schools Superintendent Eddie Tyler, “and from what I’ve been told ours is the only School System in the state of Alabama that does this. We have officials here from the state observing what we’re doing here.”

The training on Tuesday was split into three groups that included three new buses used for demonstration purposes, one that was hoisted on a lift so that drivers could see the under workings of the bus.

Another bus was used for a smoke demonstration and the third was handicap equipped to show drivers the new safety features for the coming school year and in 2020.

Inside the coliseum, drivers were given a fire demonstration and Baldwin EMC’s LiveWire on Wheels demonstration which is given at local schools.

Drivers were then given a live demonstration on the use of a fire extinguisher at the coliseum’s open arena.
