Genealogy Errors That Can Be, Should Be, and Need to Be Corrected with a Dash of Salt

Many family trees built online, published in books, and printed and framed on the wall have something in common – they have mistakes. The errors usually aren’t intentional. They may be products of legend, poor research, or wishful thinking.

In February, Foley Librarian Jeanette Bornholt presents an entertaining and eye-opening program about these genealogical mistakes: "Errors of the Way: genealogy errors that can be, should be and need be corrected with a dash of salt." Bornholt is a popular presenter whose past topics included “The Revolutionary War in Baldwin County” and “Legends and Mysteries of Baldwin County.” The presentation is part of the program at the society’s monthly meeting, February 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Foley Public Library. Meetings are free and open to the public. Following the presentation, guests are invited to join society members for light refreshments and discussion of research tips and brick walls.
