Get some social distance on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails

Posted

Quarantine, self-isolation and social distancing are the new norm for most of the world amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Recreation centers are closed, many are working and schooling from home and many people might need some fresh air and exercise. Thankfully the Hugh S. Branyon backcountry trail complex is open.

Hugh S. Branyon backcountry trail complex is a network that includes 15 miles of trails that meander through six distinct ecosystems through Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park.

If you are lucky, you could catch a glimpse of an alligator basking in the sun or crossing the trail, bobcat on the Twin Bridges or white-tailed deer on Gulf Oak Ridge. Explore the Butterfly Garden, the freshwater marshes and coastal hardwood swamps.

The trail complex has something for everyone in the family. Go for a leisurely stroll, hike or bring your bikes.

Get out and explore.
