Gulf Shores City School Board has approved the purchase of two new 71-passenger school buses. Ward International submitted the winning bid with each bus costing $80,025.
During a special session Aug. 22, the board approved the application for a 10-year loan for $160,050 for the purchase. The costs will be offset by the fleet renewal money from the state. Fleet renewal money can only be spent for the purchase of buses or the financing of buses.
“The buses are to complete our fleet. We can move some of our older buses to extracurricular routes and use the two new buses on our current routes. We expect the buses to be delivered by the end of this month,” Superintendent Dr. Matt Akin said.
