Gulf Shores man dies in single-vehicle crash in North Baldwin

A Gulf Shores man, injured in a wreck on Valentine’s Day on I-65 north bound in north Baldwin County, died early the next morning as a result of his injuries.

According to a release issued Saturday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Alabama State Troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 12:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at the 40.5-mile marker, which just north of the Gulf Shores Parkway exit (Exit 37) of I-65, north of Bay Minette.

Hugh Tyler Swann, 42, of Gulf Shores was driving a 2005 Nissan Armada, pulling a 2012 Open Range Mesa Ridge travel trailer, when he lost control of his vehicle, drifted off the roadway and overturned. Swann, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report.

Swann was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. Troopers are conducting an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
