Wales West Arctic Express

Wales West’s Arctic Express makes its way to the North Pole beginning Friday, Nov. 29 at 13670 Smiley St., Silverhill. Enjoy a steam train ride to the North Pole and visit Santa Claus with your whole family this holiday season at Wales West. Guests will travel by train through a snowy winter wonderland featuring more than 1 million twinkling lights and receive a free toy as a memento of their trip. This special holiday tradition will also feature a petting zoo in-cluding pony rides, miniature train rides, a hay-less hayride, bounce house, and fun artificial snow. Guests may purchase tickets online or purchase at the railroad for $15. Admission is free for all those 2 and under. The Arctic Express is open 4 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday until Dec. 12. Ice Skating Rink

Now through Jan. 12, The Wharf

Make a winter wish on a snowflake here at The Wharf at our real ice, Ice Skating Rink. Grab a pair of skates and glide, spin or fall into the season. Share this unique experience with family and friends. Plan a date night or a birthday party. Whatever the occasion, coast on blades along the coast with us. Cost is $12 including skate rental.

Photos with Santa

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and the perfect time to start the finest family tradition is here at The Wharf. Come to Santa’s Village and take a photo with Mr. Kringle. He has checked his list (twice actually), so make sure you are on your best behavior with visions of sugarplums when you snap a frame-worthy picture.

Horse & Carriage Rides

Weekends in November and December

Holiday traditions start with the smallest joys, and tis the season to be jolly. Mosey on over to The Wharf and spend an evening under the moon in an enchanted horse-drawn carriage. Trot along through the streets and gaze at the lights and decorations with your loved ones. You’ll want to have your camera ready for this ride, as it will be a selfie-worthy occasion. Pick up/drop off will be next to the Ice Rink. Cost is $25 per trip. The carriage seats 4 to 6 adults. Lap children are welcome.

Wharf North Pole Express

10 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturdays through Dec. 21

All aboard the North Pole Express. Join us for a magical day of fun and laughter onboard our Wharf North Pole Express. We welcome your kiddos to wear their jammies as the train rides through our winter wonderland. At the end of the train ride, you will receive special stickers and Christmas Spirit coloring books to take as souvenirs. Don’t forget to stop by Santa’s Workshop and meet the big man himself. Pick up/drop off at regular train stop in front of Pepper Palace. Cost is $5 per person; Ages 3 and under ride free.

Holiday magic at OWA

Every Saturday and Sunday in December

2-7 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are welcoming guests of all ages in their North Pole home. Stop by Mrs. Claus’ kitchen and see what she’s whipping up that day (and grab a hot cup of cocoa!), say hello to a few special visitors in Santa’s stable, visit the magical elf workshop for arts and crafts, then grab a photo with the jolly man himself. The North Pole’s activities are completely free for families and kids to enjoy. Santa’s personal paparazzi will also be there to snap your picture for a small additional cost if you want!

Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting

Help us celebrate this holiday season with jolly and glee. Join us at the annual Tree Lighting hosted by the City of Orange Beach. It is the perfect ceremony to inspire the Yuletide spirit. Enjoy special festive musical performances, cookie decorating, letters to Santa, cups of toasty hot chocolate and of course, the arrival of the big jolly man, Santa. Special performances by Gulf Shores High School band and chorus.

Hark! A Christmas Concert

6:30 p.m., Foley Civic Center

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and The Baldwin County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting “Hark! A Christmas Concert” on Dec. 5 at the Foley Civic Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert at 7. Local group Four a Change will be preforming popular Christmas carols and hymns. Refreshments will be served for donations to Habitat. Proceeds will benefit the ministries of Baldwin County Habitat for Humanity and St. Paul’s. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at St. Paul’s Church office in Foley, Baldwin County Habitat for Humanity in Summerdale, Think Outside Furniture in Gulf Shores and Epic Lasering in Foley. You can also purchase from members of Four a Change and members of St. Paul’s Church (251-943-2173).

Christmas Tree Lighting

Music & Storytelling

5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Blakeley State Park, Spanish Fort

Talented local band "Things With Strings" performs bluegrass tunes old and new with a smooth mountain tone and lots of depth and variety. Gather around the bonfire to hear stories and legends with popular local storyteller Irene Wegner. Wegner has been entertaining audiences with her professional performances for more than 30 years. She specializes in old folk tales told long ago on porches in the swamps and deep, dark woods. Hayrides from 3:30-5:30 p.m. ($2 per person) The Good Guys mobile food unit will be on site from 5 to 7:30 with burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. Face painting and games for the kids! Just bring a chair!

Fairhope’s Magical Christmas Parade

7 p.m

Small Town Christmas

6:30 p.m., Silverhill

Join us for the annual Christmas parade at 6:30 PM. Santa will be available for pictures next to Town Hall after the parade.

Street’s Merry Christmas Party

Our Poinsettia's will be arriving this week and all of our wreaths and garland should be here. Come shop, sample our finger foods, have some hot apple cider and buy a Rack of Ribs to support Wheels for Hope. Wheels for Hope will be grilling Ribs and selling them in order to raise money for Wheelchairs for the disabled is Southeast Asia. We will be taking orders in advance and also will be selling on Saturday Dec. 7.

The Baldwin Pops Tis’ The Season Concert

7 p.m., Daphne Civic Center

This event will not require a ticket. Seats are first come, first serve. Baldwin Pops Concerts are a collection site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. Patrons are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift.

Lighted Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration

6:30 p.m., Gulf Shores

The parade will feature festive lighted floats, as well as appearances from holiday characters and marching bands. Large crowds of spectators looking to bask in the holiday spirit are anticipated along Highway 59 as parade entries make their way from Gulf Shores Public Beach to Sims Park.

The magical atmosphere from the parade will roll continuously into the night as a Holiday Celebration at Sims Park will kick off immediately following the parade. Families can enjoy pictures with Santa, holiday treats, crafts and the Fifth Annual Snowball Drop. The Snowball Drop will feature a man-made blizzard as 4,000 ping pong balls will be dropped from above by Santa. Winning snowballs will have a number that correlates with a prize supplied by our generous sponsors.

Santa Run — Yo Ho Ho & A Bottle of Rum 5k and Fun Run

8 a.m., The Wharf

The Kiwanis Club of Gulf Shores is hosting the Inaugural Yo Ho Ho 5K at The Wharf. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their best Christmas attire (pets and children are welcome to join). The Kiwanis Club awards scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach that are involved in Key Club at their schools, so all funds will go back to the schools for scholarships. 3 – 6 p.m. Lillian Recreational Park’s first-ever Christmas in the Park celebration! The fun will begin at 3 p.m. with activities, hot chocolate and visits with Santa. Music begins at 5 p.m. and the tree lighting is at 6 p.m. During the month-long Christmas in the Park celebration Lillian Recreational Park will be turned into a holiday wonderland. A season to behold nature’s palette and the beautiful masterpieces of our local kids will be displayed at The Port during the third Annual Jingle Jubilee. Foley Senior Center’s Annual Christmas Dinner Dance

Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Christmas Open House

The Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Gallery will open its doors to the public Dec. 7 with an invitation to attend their Christmas Open House. From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.,

Visitors can browse the many original pieces of art and crafts, which will make excellent unique Christmas gifts. Hot apple cider and other refreshments will be served, and holiday music will fill the store to make the visiting experience more festive. Sponsored by the Robertsdale Rotary Club. Line up in the Robertsdale High School parking lot beginning at 4:30 p.m. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for small floats (29 feet and under) and large floats (30 feet and longer). The parade begins on Fairground Road, north on Alabama 59 to Honeybee Park. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for personal photos from 7 to 9 p.m. in Honeybee Park.

Join the Baldwin County Youth Orchestra's 10th annual Christmas Concert. The Fairhope Middle School Choir will perform with the orchestra, Bayside Academy Band will also perform with the winds ensemble. The Baldwin Adult Orchestra will perform as well as the Jr Orchestra. A GREAT night of music for all. A toy for Toys for Tots would be appreciated at this free concert. A silent auction will also take place.

Join us for the Snook Family YMCA Elf Ride. Dress up in your best elf costume, decorate your bike and have fun with the YMCA at OWA. Marine Corps Toys for Tots event

U.S. Marines in dress blues will be on location at the Mobile Causeway and Gulf Shores restaurants from 6 to 8 p.m., to pick up the donated toys, take photos with your family and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. If you are interested in participating, please drop off an unwrapped toy or consider donating by check to Toys for Tots. You can place donation items in the Toys for Tots collection box at the restaurants. All donations will be distributed locally to needy children.

37th Annual Christmas Fest

Bay Minette

The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will be hosting our 37th Annual Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 14, 2019. That’s right… big changes this year! Our festival will not only be a ONE DAY show, it will be located on the Courthouse Square in Downtown Bay Minette! We hope you'll join us for this time honored tradition featuring vendors, delicious food, Santa photos, the annual Christmas Parade, Ping Pong Prize Drop, live music, kid's activities, entertainment and more!

Arts, Crafts & Face Painting will begin at 11 a.m. Santa Drops in at noon. Bring the family and watch Santa parachute down to the beach, just behind the world famous Flora-Bama. This is a free event with arts and crafts, face painting, sweet treats and live music/Christmas songs for the kids! Don't forget to get pictures with Santa after he lands... photos will be taken in the tent. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the Bay Area Food Bank, or bring a toy for Toys for Tots in exchange for one free drink.

A Christmas Memory

Billy Claus is Santa’s warm weather-loving brother who lives in the Caribbean but comes this way to help Santa during the Holiday season. The LuLuBelles are Billy’s fun version of Santa’s elves. Billy will arrive in style and visit with the children to hear their wish list to pass on to Santa. Billy and the LuLuBelles will be available for photos with the children. In addition to kid’s arts & crafts activities, there will also be a reading of Billy Claus and the Spirit of Christmas Island children’s book written by Lucy Buffett.

In this multi-station class, Jacqueline Barfield will take you through process of making each one of these six cards. She will teach you stamping and embossing techniques, die cutting, and letter art. All supplies are included. $45.00 for six cards (one student).

Spanish Fort’s Night Before Christmas Book Reading

7 p.m., Spanish Fort Community Center

Join us for the annual Night Before Christmas Book Reading! Children are encouraged to wear their warmest pajamas and bring their favorite blanket to sit on. The evening begins with the joyous singing of Christmas carols, putting everyone in the Christmas spirit in anticipation of the main event! With much animation and excitement, the guest readers read aloud from several Christmas holiday books, much to the children’s delight. The final story, Clement Clarke Moore’s memorable poem, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, is read by a very special guest reader from the North Pole! As you can imagine, the atmosphere is magical for all little ones (and grown-ups) in attendance. Following our story time, cookies and warm cocoa are served to all.

Breakfast with Santa, Lillian

The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay has made arrangements with Santa and Mrs. Claus to meet and greet boys and girls, infant to age eight, at the annual Breakfast with Santa at 8:30 a.m.

After the famous free Optimist Club breakfast for the children and their families, Santa will visit with them and present them with gifts.

Family members are welcome to take pictures of their children while they visit with the Jolly Old Elf.

Breakfast with Santa, Gulf Shores

8 a.m., Erie H. Meyer Civic Center

Families can dive into a wholesome breakfast complete with sausage, bacon, eggs and pancakes. Admission for Breakfast with Santa is $5, while children 3 and under are free. The first 50 children will receive a complimentary picture with Santa.
