Man wanted for approaching women in parking lots

Posted

Gulf Shores and Foley police departments are working to bring in a man suspected of approaching women in the parking lot of local businesses.

The suspect driving the white Charger has been identified as Daren Lashawn Robinson, a 22-year-old black male of Foley. He is now wanted on two active warrants out of Foley Police Department. One charge is for harassment and the other is for solicitation of prostitution. The department believes he is now aware of these warrants and evading police.  If the public knows where he is located, they are asked to call Foley Police.

Reports from at least two women say a man in a white Dodge Charger yelled at them or offered them money to take photos of them.

A Facebook post circulated last week painted a harrowing tale of women being harassed in the parking lot of the Gulf Shores Target.

“Friend’s 19-year-old sister was leaving Target Gulf Shores today when a younger man approached her flashing money in her face and tried to coerce her to get in his car,” the post read. “He wanted to take her away and show her a good time. Said he was from California. Another family witnessed. She declined him over and over and so he started cussing her out and sped off. Police were called. Seems to be trafficking type incident.”

Another incident was described in the post, this time with a detailed look at the car.

“At target in gulf shores today there was a dark male about 35 years old,” the woman said. “I’m guessing driving a white Charger with very tinted windows- he drove up to me asking for directions, my gut told me he was up to no good, but I told him how to get to the ferry down Fort Morgan Road. He then he proceeded to tell me that his family was extremely wealthy and owned a modeling agency and was wondering if I was interested in modeling. I laughed and told him no and went to walk away. Then he said ‘what if I gave you $500 right now would you let me take a couple of pictures of you in your car.’ At this point I was getting anxious, and he was freaking me out! I told him absolutely not and got in my car!”

Gulf Shores Police posted on social media that they are looking for the vehicle in these pictures to talk to the driver, who we now believe to be Robinson, about suspicious circumstances that happened at the Target in Gulf Shores on Wednesday afternoon. The person has not necessarily broken the law but has been reported as suspicious. If you recognize the vehicle and the driver, please call the Gulf Shores Police with your information.

At print time, the suspect had not been apprehended.
