Moe’s Original BBQ in Orange Beach suffers devastating fire

Posted

Just days after Big Mike’s Steakhouse suffered a kitchen fire during dinner service, Moe’s Original BBQ in Orange Beach suffered a devastating fire.

On May 26, Orange Beach Fire department got a call at approximately 9 p.m. of a structure fire at Moe’s. The fire started in the smokehouse and spread to the main structure and was quickly brought under control.

The fire did not keep Moe’s down for long. One of the company’s food trucks was on-site May 30 – 31 to serve a limited menu. They served up its signature pulled pork and a few sides Saturday and Sunday in the parking lot at its Orange Beach location. There is also a location just up the road in Foley that is open for in-house dining, take out, delivery and catering.

"We've received a tremendous outpouring of support from the community," said co-owner Lee Nelson. "This will not only offer an opportunity to keep our newly-hired summer staff employed but also show the community that we will rebuild and continue to serve great barbecue in Orange Beach."

With six locations in South Alabama, Moe’s Original BBQ has been named in the Top 10 barbecue Chains in America by USA Today and The Daily Meal, one of the fastest growing, emerging restaurant chains by Restaurant Business Magazine, and one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the U.S. by Relish.

Served with red barbecue and Alabama white sauces, the award-winning smoked menu features pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken as well as fried pickles, salads, nachos, stuffed potatoes, catfish and a shrimp sandwich. Prepared fresh daily, a rotation of 60 traditional Southern sides and housemade desserts are also offered.
