Crews from the City of Orange Beach set out barricades, put up signs and blocked off boardwalks Friday to enforce the closure of Alabama’s beaches by Governor Kay Ivey.

The term ‘beach’ in the order refers to the sandy shoreline area abutting the Gulf of Mexico, whether privately or publicly owned, including beach access points.

All public beach access points are marked with signage, boardwalks are blocked, entrances to parking barricaded. The south side of the beach highway east of Perdido Pass, between the bridge and Ono Island, is barricaded.

Double Red Flags will fly through April 6, which is the date the order ends.
