Owen Riley Faust IV departed this world on April 12, 2017.
He was born in Aiken, South Carolina, Jan. 1, 1934.
He leaves behind to hold dear his memory his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen Boyd Faust; his cherished daughter, Tracy Faust Hale and son-in-law, H. Douglas Hale; and brother, John Faust (Joyce).
He was a wonderful husband and father dearly cherished and loved.
Owen graduated from Aiken High School, South Carolina in 1953. After working briefly for the Atomic Energy Commission, he was drafted into the Army Signal Corps during the Korean conflict.
He married his high school sweetheart Dec. 31, 1955. They attended the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a B.S. in business /marketing in 1959.
His sales career was launched with Union Carbide Company and later Ralston Purina's Energizer Holdings. He won many awards for his sales ability and retired as District Sales Manager in 1998.
Over the years Owen and Helen lived in Aiken, South Carolina, Petersburg Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland, Columbia, South Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, Nashville, Tennessee and 33 years in Birmingham, Alabama, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They retired to Perdido Beach in 2003.
Owen's pleasures were his Brittany spaniel dog, Merrimac, baking bread and pizza, camping throughout the U.S. and Canada, sailing and cruising the Gulf of Mexico on his boat, Lily Pad, and attending concerts, especially jazz.
He was a member of Josephine Baptist Church, The Point Yacht Club, Mobile Botanical Gardens, Bellingrath Gardens, The Sierra Club and Baldwin County Democrats.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of equal rights, wildlife and conservation.
Preceded in death by his parents, Owen Riley Faust III, Nana Lee Pennington Faust; and brother, Jack Lee Faust.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Josephine Baptist Church, 9854 County Road 95, Josephine, AL.
