The Wharf at Orange Beach announced the returning of the Kids Win Fishing Tournament presented by Rouses Markets Saturday and will benefit Make-A-Wish Alabama. Every kid is a winner and will have the chance to collect tons of prizes and trophies.

“We are thrilled to host the Kids Win Fishing Tournament presented by Rouses Markets this year to help encourage children to get outside,” said Sheena Mizell, marketing + public relations director, The Wharf.

This event is great for first-time or experienced young anglers and costs $25 per entrant to participate. Registration is now open, and there are only 100 spots available. Any species fish may be caught and weighed, and fishing must take place within 3 miles of any shore. The Coastal Conservation Association Alabama (CCA) will be on-site showing kids how to safely and properly tag and release fish.

“It’s important to us to also help educate the kids on the meaning of taking care of our environment and waterways while also enjoying the outdoors,” said Blakeley Ellis, executive director, CCA. “We hope everyone will make plans to join us for some fishing and family friendly fun.”

Fishing begins Friday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. CT and will end Saturday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Weigh-ins will be held at The Wharf Marina in Marlin Circle Saturday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

“This is great family friendly event to be a part of and Make-A-Wish is a very special organization, which we are always proud to support,” said Donny Rouse, CEO, Rouses Markets. “We’re looking forward to a great day!”

Children will be divided into two age divisions for prizes: Small Fry Division (ages three-eight) and Large Fry Division (ages nine-12). Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in each age division for heaviest fish, Lunker (longest/largest fish) and a conservation award. A largest Pinfish award will also be given for both divisions.

“We are so excited and grateful to be a part of the Kids Win Fishing Tournament. What a great way to encourage kids to get outdoors and enjoy the waterways. By participating in this event, kids and their families are also helping Make-A-Wish bring life changing wishes to kids with critical illnesses.
