Robertsdale man dies in motorcycle collision with 18-wheeler on I-10 in Mobile County

THEODORE, Alabama — A Robertsdale man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an 18-wheeler as he was attempting to merge onto I-10 in Mobile County over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

According to a release issued Monday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, William Melvin Lee, 44, of Robertsdale was pronounced dead at the scene when his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle struck a 2018 Freightliner, driven by Ernesto Avila of Hialeah, Florida.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 at the intersection of Interstate 10 westbound and Theodore-Dawes Road in Mobile County.

Lee was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the release. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.
