STOCKTON, Alabama — The Stockton Heritage Association and Museum has announced that it is postponed its annual Sawmill Days celebration, which was scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at Bicentennial Park in Stockton, to Nov. 7, but the organization said the move was not due to the concerns over the recent Coronavirus outbreak.
“The schedule change is due to ongoing flood conditions at the Park,” according to a post on the Stockton Heritage Association and Museum’s Facebook Page on Thursday. “The organization looks forward to bringing the popular festival back to north Baldwin County when conditions have improved this fall.”
In an earlier interview, Diane Wallace with the Stockton Heritage Association said the event was being planned for March after last year’s event was postponed. This year’s event is being co-hosted by the Baldwin County Archives & History.
“The event was postponed last year, and we did not want to wait until November to hold this year’s event,” Wallace said. “This event is very important to our community with a lot of events and entertainment for the whole family.”
The event includes the All-American Lumberjack Show, including log rolling and other demonstrations of life in the historic logging community.
Other activities will include live entertainment, antique cars and tractors, living history demonstrations, food, arts & crafts, and activities for children, such as train rides, pony rides and a petting zoo.
“This is just a fun event that the whole family can enjoy,” Wallace said, “and we invite everyone out to come and celebrate our heritage here in North Baldwin County.”
