Seventh grade science students at Orange Beach Middle School explored the structure of DNA in a whole new way.
Students used tasty treats such as marshmallows and licorice sticks to create edible DNA stands of various organisms. Their classmates decoded the DNA to identify its source. It’s amazing what you can do with candy and toothpicks.
This tasty educational exercise would not have been possible without the generosity of the parents for supplying the materials.
