The Tri-City Community Foundation announces first competitive grant cycle

Posted

The Tri-City Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, will open its first competitive grant cycle Nov. 1, 2019. There will be an information session for eligible organizations interested in applying for a grant held at Frederic's at Coastal Alabama Community College (3301 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores) at 10 a.m. Nov.7,2019.

The Tri-City Community Foundation Fund was founded in Aug. 2018 to serve as a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit the community. Through concerted grant-making, the fund was created to give the local leaders in Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach an opportunity to make a difference in the communities they call home. These leaders also have the chance to make recommendations about how the charitable dollars are spent and bear the legal responsibility to ensure the funds are then used in compliance with donor intent.

“We’re excited to launch our first competitive grant cycle,” said Michelle Hodges, Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Tri-City Community Foundation. “The organizations in this community are strong and deserving, so we’re glad that we can contribute to their mission to better our area.”

As an affiliate, the Tri-City Community Foundation is in partnership with The Community Foundation of South Alabama, a nonprofit charitable organization. By creating affiliate funds, the Community Foundation can give support to communities like Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach and give each town its own legacy.

Rebecca Byrne, President/CEO of the Community Foundation, said, “The Tri-City Community Foundation has really rallied and grown since its inception in 2018. We’re confident that this first competitive grant cycle will further strengthen the Tri-City community.”

Individuals that are interested in investing in the Tri-City community can mail a donation by check to P.O. Box 990 Mobile, AL, 36601 or visit the Foundation’s webpage at www.tricitycommunityfoundation.org. For more information, contact the Community Foundation at 251-438-5591.
