ELSANOR, Alabama — An early-morning head-on collision over the weekend in the Elsanor community has left two dead and three others hospitalized.

Steve A. Leonard, 57, of Atmore, was driving south on County Road 87 when his 2009 Dodge Ram collided head-on with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, March 30, according to a release issued Saturday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

He was transported to University Hospital in Mobile where he died from his injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, Michael Wayne Leonard, 54, of Century, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Neither man was using a seat belt, according to State Troopers.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Blaine Gregg, 37, of Elberta, was injured and transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Florida, along with two children (one from each vehicle) where they were treated for what is described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
