Yelding takes head coaching job at B.C. Rain

DAPHNE, Ala. -- Longtime Daphne assistant football coach and softball head coach Lawrence “L.T.” Yelding is now the head football coach at B. C. Rain High School. Yelding begin his new job leading the Class 6A Red Raiders gridiron program on Monday.

Yelding grew up in Daphne, graduated from Fairhope High and Alabama State University before going into the coaching profession. He became part of the Daphne coaching staff under Steve Savarese, Glenn Vickery and current head coach Kenny King. He has coached the defensive line, secondary, inside and outside linebackers as well as running backs. He has also served as the interim head coach and Athletic Director at DHS.

He also found success as skipper of the Daphne fastpitch softball program for 14 seasons which he led to more than 600 wins through 2018. The Lady Trojans won numerous area titles and made the Elite Eight state tournament several seasons and finished as the state Class 6A runner-up twice under Yelding’s management.

Yelding replaces former Raiders’ coach Rick Cauley who is now at Class 7A Davidson High.
