2019 a banner year for Loxley

When the Beach Expressed sliced through the tiny town, leaders could have lamented the construction as the beginning of the end of small town life. Instead, they have embraced the new thoroughfare as a means of making small town life the best it can be.

As a result, the last month has been a flutter of ribbon cuttings. The Manning family opened the doors to a new 31,500 square-foot Piggly Wiggly grocery store in the heart of town. Days before, international leaders gathered to anoint the new U.S. corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility of the Kaishan group which supplies compressed air, refrigeration and mining equipment to over 60 countries. The new facility is projected to bring 62 jobs and more than $11 million in capital investments to Baldwin County in the next three years.

Last month the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that Loxley would receive a $111,400 loan and a $46,000 grant to purchase new trucks, including three police vehicles.

And just months ago Loxley became a must-stop spot on the map for travelers on I-10 who wanted to visit the mecca of all travel centers: Buc-ee’s. The 55,000 square-foot facility was the first built outside the state of Texas. It brought fresh-made barbecue Texas biscuit sliders, breakfast tacos and 200 jobs to the region.

The leadership in the town of Loxley should be commended for its vision and its ability to seize the opportunity to better the lives of all its citizens. Jobs, revenue, international accolades – Loxley has earned all of this and more through dedication and hard work. Congratulations!
