Foley High officials looking to form Stadium Club to help with stadium improvements

FOLEY, Alabama — If you’ve ever worn the Blue and Gold, shaken a pom pom or two, or just been a part of the crowd cheering on the Lions on a Friday night (or a Monday, Tuesday or a Thursday night for that matter) officials at Foley High School want you.

Principal Russ Moore and Athletic Director Tad Niblett of Foley High School hosted an organizational meeting of a new group to be known as the Stadium Club on Thursday, Dec. 8 at Ivan Jones Stadium.

The purpose of this group will be to allow interested individuals to be involved in planning and supporting improvements to Ivan Jones Stadium and potentially other Foley High School venues in the future.

“We want anyone who’s ever been a part of Foley High School to feel like they can continue to be a part in the community,” said Moore, who has also served as a player, coach and athletic director at Foley during the past three decades. “Those sought for this group include any individuals in the community who recognize Ivan Jones Stadium as a central feature of Foley and the surrounding area; those who have some historical connection to the stadium and other iconic features of the community; those who realize that many people’s first impression of our community is the stadium; and those who would like to see Ivan Jones Stadium be the best it can be.”

This group is an effort by local school leadership to promote community involvement in something that gives many locals, and those new to the community, great pride, Moore said. The Stadium Club is not a Baldwin County Public Schools entity.

“There are some things we will be looking to the county to do for the stadium over the next few months,” Moore said, such as replacing the lights and light poles behind the visitors’ bleachers. “But there are some other things, mainly aesthetically, that we’d like to do ourselves and we want to combine that with a way to let people who grew up here and still care about Foley and Foley High School know that they can still contribute in a positive way.”

Questions leading up the organizational meeting may be directed to Russ Moore at Foley High School at 251-943-2221.
