AmVets is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally chartered veterans service organization, representing the interests of 20 million veterans. It is open to all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard. It currently has more than 250,000 members, proud veterans serving veterans. The goal of all AmVets is to improve the quality of life for veterans, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy, and services.

Msgt John Benson, Jr. AmVets Post 2018 was organized in October 2018 for the purpose of helping veterans in the area. The Post was named in honor of one of the charter members, Benson, who passed away in March. Since its inception, Post 2018 has grown to include three other affiliated organizations that work with the AmVets: AmVets Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of AmVets, and AmVet Riders.
