FOLEY - Alan Samry, author of Stump the Librarian: A Writer’s Book of Legs, will be giving a presentation at the Foley Public Library on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room.

Samry will discuss his book which is a diverse collection of creative writing that explores his life as a congenital below-knee amputee and a public librarian. Samry’s cross-genre writing in creative nonfiction, poetry, essays, satire, scholarship, and experimental writing weaves fascinating mythical, historical, and literary figures into his own absorbing story of being a “born amputee.”

In the book, with chapters organized as though the reader were exploring a public library, Samry writes about his experiences in an open, insightful, and humorous way. In his search for other leg amputees, Samry finds a new way of seeing himself and the world around him.

Seating is limited so reservations are required. Please call 251-943-7665 to reserve a seat. Further information can be found at the library’s website, www.foleylibrary.org, or through our library’s Facebook page or Instagram account.
