Bay Minette man facing sodomy charges

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man is in jail on a first-degree sodomy warrant after being picked up during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the BMPD, Timothy Dewayne Thomas Jr., 30, is in jail without bond. The arrest came after the BMPD was notified in early October by DHR regarding a minor child who had been sexually assaulted.

“Investigators determined through their investigation that Thomas was the suspect and develop probable cause to issue a warrant for his arrest for the charge of sodomy in the first degree,” according to the release issued by Chief Al Tolbert.

Thomas is currently being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center without bond.

“A bond hearing will be set and we will release that information when comes available,” Tolbert said. “No other details or information is available for release at this time regarding this arrest.”

Thomas has a long history of bookings at the Corrections Center, dating back to 2009 when a then 19-year-old Thomas was booked on charges of possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct.

He was booked in December 2011 on several charges of negotiating a worthless instrument with the Summerdale Police Department, released in February of 2012.

He was booked again on negotiating a worthless instrument charges with the Bay Minette Police Department in 2013, booked in February of 2014 on drug charges and again in March of 2014 on an alias warrant.

He was last booked in May and November of 2018 on failure to pay and failure to appear charges with the Summerdale and Bay Minette police departments.
