Washington, D.C. – Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) released the following statement applauding FAA’s announcement of grants to two Southwest Alabama airports.
“Airports are a valuable component of our transportation infrastructure and an important economic development tool,” said Byrne. “With the improvements made possible by these grants in Foley and Mobile, our district’s infrastructure network will become stronger. I thank Secretary Chao and the Department of Transportation for their commitment to these facilities, and I look forward to partnering with them in the future as we seek opportunities to improve infrastructure in Southwest Alabama.”
Foley Municipal Airport will receive $305,000 to repave 1,450 feet of the existing hangar access taxiway. Mobile Airport Authority will receive two grants for the Mobile Downtown Airport, $822,207 to acquire a sweeper truck for cleaning airfield debris and $1,350,000 to update the existing airport master plan study to show current and future needs of the airport.
