CB Chamber banquet to pay homage to state bicentennial

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce invites you to come “Home” at its 43rd annual banquet Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale.

This year’s banquet will, in part, pay tribute to Alabama 200, which celebrates the state’s bicentennial in 2019, said Chamber Director of Operations Gail Quezada.

“It is a way for us to honor our past and present,” she said, “where we’ve been and where we are going.”

In keeping with the bicentennial, “Home” is the theme for this year’s event, which will be presented by Baldwin EMC. This is an upscale evening with a reception and dinner with an estimated attendance of 400.

Reservation deadline for table seating was Tuesday, Jan. 8. Individual and couples’ tickets may still be available at the door. Check for availability. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple or $300 for a table of eight.

The event kicks off with social hour at 5 p.m., featuring a silent auction, music, hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages. Dinner will be served at 6:30, catered this year by Goo Roo’s of Robertsdale with the program set to begin at 7 p.m.

Awards will be presented for the “Business of the Year,” given to a business in each of the four municipalities served by the chamber: Loxley, Robertsdale, Silverhill and Summerdale; along with several awards including the “Small Business of the Year,” and “Emerging Small Business of the Year,” which were voted on by Chamber members, along with the annual “Chamber Volunteer of the Year” award, “Generations” and “Good Government” awards.

New this year will be the “Fell, Gilbert, Mack, Pearson – Founders Award,” which is a combination of the Man and Woman of the Year awards.

“It is a tradition of the Chamber to recognize an individual for outstanding achievements each year,” according to a letter that was sent to Chamber members. “This new award honors our Chamber Founders (Raymond Fell, Jimmy Gilbert, Huey Mack Sr. and Percy Pearson) that understood the need in the business community to create an organization that would promote growth, economic stability and supports thriving commerce.”

During the evening the 2018 Chairman of the Board Jeff Plato of Flash Courier & Delivery LLC will pass the gavel to 2019 Chairman Sandy Folan of Habitat for Humanity. The chamber will also acknowledge the incoming executive board and board of directors for 2019 and honor and acknowledge outgoing board members.

Additional sponsors for this year’s event are: Diamond sponsors: Coastal Alabama Community College, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Power Productions; Gold sponsors: Baldwin County Sewer Service, Riviera Utilities, Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Budweiser Busch Distributing. Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Baldwin County Cattle & Fair Association; Silver sponsors: Hamm Enterprises LTD; Bronze sponsors: Gruenloh & Associates, Mack Funeral Home, Citizens’ Bank, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Primary Health Care, Wind Creek Casino, Lauri Ann Photography, Advantage Business Solutions.
