Central Baldwin Chamber hosts 43rd Annual Banquet

The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce hosted its 43rd Annual Banquet on Thursday, Jan. 17. The event was held at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale, celebrating the occasion with the theme “Home” in honor of Alabama’s 200, which celebrates the state’s bicentennial later this year. The evening consisted of a silent auction, a catered dinner, and an awards presentation for multiple categories.

The awards ceremony began with Municipality Business of the Year Awards, which are given to businesses chosen by the individual cities’ mayors and councils. These are businesses with a strong presence in their area.

Next is the Chamber Awards: Small Business of the Year, which is presented to a business that has shown growth in sales, has a track record in being involved with the chamber, and stands out among the crowd; Emerging Small Business of the Year, which is presented to a new, emerging business that has shown rapid growth and profitability in the first three years of operation, along with showing potential for future growth and success; Generations Award, which recognizes a family-owned business that has set the standard for excellency and success; and Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizing a volunteer that makes a significant contribution to the Chamber through their time, actions, and dedication.

Next are the Good Government Award, recognizing an elected official and their contributions to the community; and the Central Chamber’s newest award, being presented for the first time this year, the Fell Gilbert Mack Pearson Founder’s Award, which was created to celebrate Alabama’s history by “taking a look back and honoring members of the community who had a vision and the faith to make the Chamber what it is today.”

The night ended with the recognition of the immediate past chair, who then passed the gavel to the new President of the Chamber Board of Directors.
